Why do nail polish bottles contain two little silver balls inside?

Is it to break up the polish if it starts to thicken? I dont know, I am curious. Why do nail polish bottles contain two little silver balls inside?
To mix itWhy do nail polish bottles contain two little silver balls inside?
Yes, those are put there so that when you reuse it after a while of just laying there they will shake the paint up and make sure that when you apply it is the color its supposed to be. To better shake it with.
SO IT DOES'NT STICK TOGETHER
Yes and to help mix the paint since it tends to separate over time.
yes it is to keep the nailpolish from hardening, although not all nail polish bottles have them.
they're aroma balls, so they make the nail polish smell better, like my lancome one has those balls and so the polish smells like rasberry. i mean, it still has that strong nail polish smell, but once it dries on your nails, you can smell the different fragrance.

it is not for mixing up the polish or any of that, that is just a rumor that many people think is true, trust me, i have read many beauty books such as allure, and bobbi brown.
yeah you got the rightidea its so the color gets mixed up and doesnt get mixed up also.
to mix the polish.
To make it easy to mix the polish so it doesn't settle. This way it keeps smooth.
To mix the polish and to help it not harden.
The two silver beads are to help mix the polish when you shake or rub the bottle between your hands.

Pigments tend to settle towards the bottom.
many nail polishes have metalic flakes and they can settle to the bottom of the bottle.....the little balls are to help mix them back in before you apply your polish....never shake nail polish as it creates air bubbles.....always gently roll it inside your hands before use.
Its to keep the polish from sticking together.
YOU JUST ANSWERED YOUR OWN QUESTION THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT IT IS FOR
yes, you're supposed to roll the bottle between your hands so that the little balls do their work and don't leave you with a streaky nail job.
Since you have received your answer about the silver balls, here's a tip for your nail polish.

Never shake the bottle. It creates air bubbles %26amp; it doesn't evenly mix the polish. Rather, roll it between your palms. It mixes it better.
it helps mix the paint
the balls are to help mix the ingredients in the polish.
so the paint won't get hard and for it to mix better when u shake it
i think its to help keep the ingredients from breaking up
To aid in mixing the contents of the bottle when you shake it.

Just like spray paint cans. Give one a few shakes and you will start to hear a ball hitting the walls of the can.
yes, to break up the polish when it thickens....good guess
Yeah you are right. The tiny silver balls help to keep the polish from becoming a gooey sticky mess that will leave your nails looking horrendous.
Yep thats exactly why. you are supposed to shake up the bottle b4 you use it, and it gets all the clumps out so when you put it on, its thin and smooth!

What nail polish colors look good on super short nails for fair skin

I've worn my nails bone-short for about 2 years now, and one thing I've found out is this--every color works. I'm talking about baby blues and pinks to black or white, or even extremes like fusha or neon green. Because the nails aren't long, it wont look cheep or cheesy ('cause everyone knows they're yours) and it's way better than acrylic because you can change the color at the drop off a dime. Really, you should just go by whatever color YOU think is hot at the moment. But, as a basic guideline, here's what some different colors can do:

DARKS: Blacks, Blood-Reds, Deep Blues, %26amp; Violets usually make your fingers pop, so don't wear them if you you're going for a casual, lighter look--unless you're just adventures like that:)

BROWNS: Well, If you want that whole ';naturale'; thing, brown is gunna do the job. Be careful with milk chocolate hues...it can make short nails look bad.

PINKS: The universal polish. This color goes for just about any situation and with most casual outfits. Keeping to a basic pink is the best choice.

BLUES: For the general blues, this color works well with outfits containing various colors.

GREENS: It's not every day that you see somebody with green nail polish. Therefore, you should choose this color wisely. The basic greens pack a mean punch to short nails, so be sure befor you apply.

LIGHTS: The lighter shades of all colors are very great with short nails, and as long as they don't outrageously clash your outfit (which is hard to do) you're in the clear for all of them.

GREY%26amp;YELLOW: There's a reason why both of these colors can be found on caution tape. They both are very attractive shades, and sometimes difficult to find. When you put them on, you'll surely get a lot of stares...

FRENCH MANICURE: Seriously, you can never go wrong with it. It's perfect for absolutely any occasion or outing. Goes with every and any out fit you can imagine and its CLASSIC. Of course, because it's so popular, it can run the line of boring, or ';done';. So if you're adventurous, go for a neon!

NEONS: Fun for teens, but once you're over 25, try to stay away.

TRANSLUCENT: These are polishs that you may have to put on about 5 coats to even see the color! They're nice if you're unsure about what color to choose. Two coats and you're good. It's the best choice if you don't want naked nails, but aren't sure about a color.

WHITE: It's a challange to wear this with out looking like you used a bottle of white-out. But if you can manage to pull it off, it goes with everything--except maybe if you want a mpre professional look, go for darks.

That's about all, or at least what I think. Remember, no matter the length, the key to a nice nail is PROPER FILING, so take the time to make your nails shapely!! Hope that helps somewhat.

*If that didn't help, try this.

Anything on this page would look great for fair skin

Shear pinks or neutrals. That is a good color becuz' short nails chip faster and you don't notice chippings as easily. Then again.. I have seen burgundy or deep blood red colors on fair skins and they look really good.
Anything with natural tints like peach light pink light brown tan reddish colors like burgandy
ohh i need to know this! cause i have no idea! and thats my nails right there... short and faired skinned i mean
black, it's casual but still cute :)

i wear it to make my fingers look shorter because my fingers are soooo long!
Peachy color.
light pink/peach/clear.

and NEVER yellow.
a pale pink or peachy color.
pale pink

What color nail polish should i use?

i'm going to a party and my outfit is jean shorts and a blue jacket with gold spiderwebs. what color nail polish will look best cuz i usually don't use nailpolish so i dunno. What color nail polish should i use?
either gold or redWhat color nail polish should i use?
You should do black nail polish because it is a good color for the night and day, or you could do gold to match w/your outfit.
get a french manicure with white tip and have a gold glitter going in between the white and natural. i had mine done from prom and i had a blue glitter strip. i loved them. hope i helped and im sure whatever u pick will look good!
Gold, blue, or blue with gold details. Or a nice french manicure, or all white nails would be good. Maybe a dark blue, so it doesn't totally match. It's kind of hard, I'm trying to picture your outfit, so I don't know for sure what would look good, but I think this stuff would work. You could also do a bright red, pink, or green. Or just a light sheer pink would look really good, it'll go with almost anything. Well, good luck! And have fun!
black totally black or white the hottest colors
okk umm im not trying to be mean or anything but first of all dont wear jean shorts!!! especially if you gunna wear a blue jacket w/ gold spiderwebs!!! deniim on denim doesnt look good! trust me! u should wear a jean mini skirt from abercrombie and fitch or Hollister (they're on sale) then this empire waist striped pink shirt its veryy cute and its from Hollister (on sale too) then if ur gunna wear that outfiit, wear cotton candy OPI nail polish, Then on top of that wear either black ballerina flats (can find them anywhere) or if u wanna go cheaper just go to Old Navy and buy black flip flops........ if this isnt ur style send me back and tell me ur syle.
Hot pink, black or red, french nail poilsh too
Red is nice.
a cute pink or red would make you look partyish.

just clear with glitter or silver would make you look cool.

or, if you just wanna look like u wanna have fun, wear a bright color (light blue, electric green, hot pink)

have fun!
use a mixture made from some nair and some urine. -- brings out a great gold that can go with any style!
French goes with anything! but in your case Black or even a french with black tips!! That would be best
I would paint my nails the same color blue as the shirt and then add details like polka dots or if you can spider web in gold on top.
maybe try gold or just a french manicure
hey if you do your nails yourself then paint them blue OR gold, if u go get them done, take the shirt with you and get them to match the colors and see what happens.
hot pink because its random and you dont necessarilly need to match your nail color for a party.
I think either Blue or Gold
teal or any other color of blue,

to match your blue jeans %26amp; jacket

I have a pair of red peep shoes and I dont know what color of nail polish to wear!?

I have bought a pair of flat, peep toe shoes. Very cute. They are bright red and have a little bow in the front. My dress is white and all of my accessories are bright red. I usually wear red nail polish or pink, but I dont think that I can do that this time. Are there any suggestions. Please dont say french manicure... I think that those are the hardest to do.I have a pair of red peep shoes and I dont know what color of nail polish to wear!?
I would go with white on my toes as a polish something fun and will match your dressI have a pair of red peep shoes and I dont know what color of nail polish to wear!?
Red, sounds good to me. Or go with a neutral color, like beige.
I'd go with a more muted color. A pretty pastel pink or a shimmery pink maybe. Nothing too bright that will compete with the shoe.
black nails with red accessories are totally cute and chic!
Get a french manicure done. Red shoes already stand out, I don't think you need anything flashy for your nails...
black %26amp; paint ur fingernails black 2
red,black,or french.
You should pain your toes hot pink and then put some red toe jewls on top of the pink. You can get toe jewls at a grocery store or meybe a beauty supply store.

QUICK!!! Please help...How do you get red nail polish off a shag carpet?

My 2 year old dumped out an entire bottle of red nail polish on my leased home's carpet. HELP!!! How do I get it off? I have used remover and tried to steam clean.....nothing has worked. The remover worked a little....but does not seem to be working anymore.QUICK!!! Please help...How do you get red nail polish off a shag carpet?
you find carpet that matcher your carpet and you buy a sample. then you cut a square of your carpet out with a razor knife and cut another spuare to match from the new carpet.

then you glue the seams down with silicone rubber....

    fluff the edges

would not do it that way in my house but it isll get you your security deposit back.QUICK!!! Please help...How do you get red nail polish off a shag carpet?
Be careful using nail polish remover on it, it could melt the carpet. Try looking on HGTV's web site, maybe they have an answer for you.
    a whole gallon of Windex....
I wish i asked this question, cuz I always spill nail polish
Get a rag,and soak the area w/nail polish and then take the excess off w/ the rag,add more remover and take it off, until is off
    try ';oops';
I have to go with the person who suggested cutting out the spot and replacing with the new carpet. BUT, having worked in apartment renting, I would suggest calling a carpet care company and seeing if they can patch it for you. The fee will probably not be too high.
Check your local hardware store for a product called goof off. I'm serious it's name is Goof Off, a contractor showed me this stuff while working on a Habitat for Humanity home and it removes EVERYTHING. We used it to clean up paint off wood floors, clean grey smears on siding you name it. It comes in a metal can resembling a small propane bottle for camp stoves and works like a charm!
Simple green full-strength .... will get the job done! ... be patient!. Cover the area and let sit for 10min and use paper towels and dab it up repeat until gone. Some shades may leave a little color residue but Simple Green will work.
I'm sorry but I don't think it will come off. You might have to get another carpet re-instaled and the next time you are doing your nail cover the whole entire floor with newspaper.
I don't think at this point you will get it out. To piece in a patch call a professional for this, if the same carpet runs into any closet they can cut a piece out where you wouldn't notice to much and remove the damaged area, and replace. you may not even see where they did the patch, depending on the type of carpet.

Will glow in the dark nail polish still work if I put it over normal nail polish.?

For halloween i am painting my nails orange but i want to make them glow in the dark for my school dance. Will glow in the dark nail polish still work if I put it over normal nail polish.?
yupp it should, but not as well as it would by itself. Will glow in the dark nail polish still work if I put it over normal nail polish.?
Yes you should put 2-3 coats on. 4, for it to be real noticeable.
    read the bottle.
Yea it'll work, I've tried. Before u go though, remember to let them sit under a lamp or some source of light to make them glow even darker while ur there, and keep them under for as long as you can.

    hope this helped!
It should still glow in the dark, but if your putting it on over the orange color, that won't show through. You can try and find some glow in the dark orange polish. I've seen it in drug stores.
Only do one coat of orange, leave for about an hour or longer, then do a coat of glow in the dark, leave to dry for quite a while, then add another coat of glow in the dark. :) Or just get glow in the dark orange nail polish.

Is that supposed to be in my nail polish?

i just noticed that there were 2 metal-looking ball-shaped things in my nail polish bottle.i don't think they were there before.i can't open the bottle. i opened it before.its not new.what is that?Is that supposed to be in my nail polish?
yeah that is suppost to be in their.. it helps it when you shake it. if you cant open it the nail polish probably has it stuck shut try running hot water over it and if that doesnt work use acetone or some nail polish cleaner and it should openIs that supposed to be in my nail polish?
It is to stir up the polish. im not sure why it wont open. My its on too tight or u got some polish on the screw part and it harden?
ya those are supposed to be there. shake the nail polish bottle and you can hear them. It helps stir the polish. for the non-opening part. you prolly got some nail poslish on the screw part so run it under some hot water and then open it with a towel over it. or with your hands. the towel just gives a little extra traction.
The metal balls are to shake up the polish. You cant open the bottle because old dried up polished is preventing you form opening it. Just put it in some warm water for a while and it should come open.
The two little balls that flow around are mixing items. For example, if you leave your nail polish standing there for a month, it will grow clumpy. Once you SHAKE IT UP, those little balls will be like a mixer. Mix mix mix, until it's just like how it was before.

Run your nail polish cap area under HOT water. Try to open it. Run under water, rinse, under water, rinse.
It's a thing so nail manicurists can shake it and if they do not here the metal balls shake then the nail polish is to dry. It is supposed to be there don't worry.
Sometimes if you leave nail polish for a while it starts to separate and you get a clear liquid on the top, these balls help to mix it together again.

You've probably got nail polish around the top of the bottle which has dried and stuck the lid on, find someone strong to try and open it for you!
same here. i was wondering what they were for about half an hour. Most nail polishes will settle a bit when they sit, especially metalics and frosts. The metal balls mix the ingredients up so that the fine metallic glitter is evenly distributed on your nails.

    Remember to shake the polish!
It's supposed to be there. It makes sure that the nail polish won't be clumpy. If you can't open the bottle, put it under hot water for a minute, then try and open the cap. If you can't open it because there is nail polish sealing the caps shut then use nail polish remover to open it. Hope I helped!
Those metal balls are in every nail polish bottle. When You shake the nail polish it helps mix the color to be the Perfect shade, Nothing is wrong with your nail polish. (=
ya. even those cheap nail polish have them lol. so are those shiny glittery things inside
It proabaly supposed to be in there...but since you don't know what they are, it is best to show to show someone professional who knows what their doing or simply not use it at all.
The metal looking ball shaped things are supposed to be there... and they always were whether you noticed them or not . they help to mix up the nail polish when you shake it (thats why the nail polish makes a noise when you shake it)
Yes. All (I think) bottles of nail polish have them. They're in there to help mix the polish when you shake the bottle.
Well normally yes, there are silver balls in your nail polish.... WHen u shake it can u hear like a clicking sound. If so then thats good. that means the balls are mixing the polish. If you can hear the sound then idk what they are. But generally yes. There are silver balls and they make a sound when u shake the bottle
it got old because you didnt use it for a long time just throw it away. :)

i think being in the sun or heat makes it liek that too idk
I think they are meant to be there to keep the substance stirred.
yeah. it keeps the nail polish from clumping up
Don't worry, they're supposed to be there! They had to be there even before you got it because they're supposed to make it easier to shake the bottle up so it's not watery on top and thick at the bottom. Convenient, isn't it?

Black or a dark brown, maroon, etc. make your toes look smaller, so I would assume feet also.

    :)
Neutral shades like pinks and tans will draw less attention to your feet, while still giving you pretty toes.

I feel my feet are too big too, but when I want to wear a brighter or darker color I just go with it. After all, feet and toes are just a small part of one's total look.

Mica Rose By Chanel (hey, it better be a nice brand if im wearing it forever!)

Its a versatile faint rose colour that can go with anything, and the crisp light pink gives your nails a clean, groomed, manicured look:)
I have no idea what the name or brand would be, since I haven't found a really good one yet, but I would have to have black polish. I love black and it goes with everything.

  • How do i apply nail polish so that it looks shiny and perfect?

after applying it, if u look closely there are many marks on my nail that i can see and when u feel it, its not smoothHow do i apply nail polish so that it looks shiny and perfect?
I get marks on my nails too. Or little ';air bubbles'; that result from another coat of polish being put on before the first one dries.

Also, if you touch your nails before it dries, it causes marks.

    1. File, buff and wash nails.

    2. Apply a base coat (clear nail polish) .. wait until it dries.

    3. Put on your fave nail colour using 2 -3 strokes. Let it dry.

    4. Apply a top coat (clear nail polish) .. wait until it dries.

    5. TADA! You're done! :D

Make sure that you don't touch your nails while they're drying. So watch TV or something while you're waiting.

A base coat prevents your nails from getting stained from the nail colour. A top coat prevents your nail colour from chipping off and looking nice and glossy! (:

~ Hope i helped! How do i apply nail polish so that it looks shiny and perfect?
first of all, file and clean your nails,

then apply a shiny undercoat of a clear colour.

afterwards apply your colour polish in your desired amount of layers,(though do not go for more than 2-3, escpecially if the polish is quite thick)

wait twenty to thirty minutes (do not touch your nails at all whilst drying) and then apply a shiny top coat

let this dry and then you will have a sleek glossy look .

the under and top coat keeps the nail polish fresh and chip-free. it also lasts longer with the top coat.

when applying the polish, try to use even strokes, going up the nails, not horizontally.

    hopeeefulllly this helps you :)
Apply a clear, protective top coat.

Also, if you have marks on your nail-- try filing and buffing them a bit before you apply the polish. Oh, and make sure you don't pile on the polish too thick; that can result in it not drying instantly, and anything you touch and mess the polish up.

Make sure you apply it in thin even coats, and make sure each coat dries properly. Then apply a clear coat, and BAM :D perfect nails.
Try buffing your nail beforehand with a nail buffer.

    First apply and undercoat (clear)

And when your applying your coloured nailvarnish try get it in 3 strokes!

Apply two coats of the coloured, and then an shiney clear overcoat :)

    Hope this helps

    X
1st apply a base coat when dry, then 1 coat thin even polish start over with second coat, then while a bit tacky but mostly dry a top coat. Let dry. you may need to buff nails before you start polishing
the only thing tht can possibly help is time

also add a thin clear coat on top and leave to dry

How do u get nail polish out of carpet???

i spilled nail polish obviously and i need to get it out...its like a dark purple help!!How do u get nail polish out of carpet???
Good luck...that is one of the hardest stains to get out :(. Your best bet is nail polish remover and patience. But first find a spot in the rug where you can test the nail polish remover on it and make sure it doesn't melt/stain.

If it tests ok then I'd go armed with nail polish remover, a roll of paper toweling and some water. If the nail polish is in a bottle pour some on paper toweling. If you have the kind with a wand you can use that. Apply in SMALL amounts (remember you don't want to make the stain bigger), then blot. Repeat this over and over and over. Again don't be tempted to rush it and add a lot or you will end up with a bigger stain as it will spread. But just keep adding a little then blotting it up.

When you are done, do the same thing but with some water to wash out the acetone (nail polish remover). I really wish you the best, but if it's a big stain and a light carpet I would hope for the best but expect the worst, since some stain is likely to remain. Hopefully it's in a spot you can move some furniture or a plant or something on top of :(

But who knows maybe you will get lucky. Also if it's a small area you might be able to CAREFULLY cut it out, and replace with a carpet patch. That, of course, is a last resort suggestion.

If the acetone doesn't work I'd see if any cleaning solutions claim to get it out. I don't know of any, but might be something new out there. I've also heard alcohol can help with this, but I've never tried it.

Best of luck to you with this mess! How do u get nail polish out of carpet???
My daughter spilled nail polish on our white carpet last summer. I got it out almost instantly with a Magic Eraser that I had picked up. If you use nail polish remover, it probably wont get the stain out and will discolor the rest of the carpet. I hope this helps you.
you can use ice to freeze it and it should come up
Yikes! NOT GOOD..LOL What I would try though, is to get some acetone, or regular nail polish remover, and try it on a spot in the back of a closet (Or some place inconspicuous) and see if it damages the carpet..it might make it ';melt.'; If it doesn't seem to hurt it, try it on the spot..just a little bit at a time...don't just rub it in, try to sort of just wipe it in an UP motion~OFF the carpet fibers. You could also try just trimming the polish off the top of the carpet with a pair of scissors...just the tips of the carpet that it's on. If all else fails~~

    Throwrug:(

    Best of Luck!!
I can suggest your own nail varnish remover, but first try scraping it off with a blunt knife when it finely dries. Sure most of the stain will come out this way

You could use NON acetone nail polish remover and an old toothbrush, along with a white rag. You may have to do it again once it dries, like tomorrow. Keep working on it with the remover. Besides a french manicure, what shades of nail polish do women in their 40's wear?

Mostly toes, but fingers sometimes. I'm fair and don't know about the pearly ones.Besides a french manicure, what shades of nail polish do women in their 40's wear?
I'm in my 40's and I wear which ever colors that I choose. Of course, I stay away from the blacks, blues, golds, and other ';young'; nail colors. However, the traditional colors like shades of pink, shades of red, shades of white, and French are always good choices for women in their 40's.Besides a french manicure, what shades of nail polish do women in their 40's wear?
I don't think you need to be real concerned about your age..just choose colors that flatter your hands...dark colors usually look better on people with long fingers as they tend to make your fingers look shorter..so if you have shorter fingers lean towards the light/medium shades...or if you have shorter nails. You might like a neutral shade that goes with most everything--so think about the clothes that you enjoy wearing and keep that in consideration when you are choosing.
hmm, that depends what kind of person you are. most older women i know wear plain shades like red and pink while other older people i know wear funky colors like blue and green. it's all a matter of personality. if you think you are fit for the norm, i'd say red or pink (darkish pink, not hot pink). if you're one of those crazier people, go for the wacky neon. you could even go to a nail salon and get your nails patterened.
It doesn't Matter much!! Seriously!! Just don't put on neon and stuff, that stuff is just creepy. Find a color you like or colors for a certain outfit, or a pair of sandals. It doesn't matter what color, as long as you like it.
    Experiment!!!

    See what's you!!!
I light pink is always very classy!

i love OPI but its a little on the expensive side essie is good but again its kinda expensive and you cant get it at drug sores..... my absalute favorite is NYC it comes in lots of funky colors and its only 99 cents its better if you get it from target or a makeup place like ulta cuz sometimes the ones at the drugstore have been sitting thier for a couple years

Experiment with different types of base coats. The kind I use is called Diamond Strength and can be found at Wal-mart for a dollar or two.
Always put on a base coat. Apply two coatings of your color, but not too thick. Then apply a top coat. It's a little laborious, but worth it.
get this kind of nail polish that is made for that stuff called hard nails, it works great. or wut ever color u want just add the first layer then wait til it drys, and add as many layers of it as u want.or u could just put a bunch of clear polish on it. goodluck!

Try mixing some clear polish with it. It will dilute it, but it may work.

THe better way is to submerge the closed bottle in luke carm water and leave it for 10- 15 minutes, it may do the trick.
add a drop of nail varnish remover in it to thin it out, will be like new

also for future keep in fridgeand roll it betrween hands rather than shake it to stop it going gloopy

On a regular basis, just say no to black nail polish is my opinion. For halloween I think it's OK, just make sure you base coat your nails first so you don't discolor them if you end up leaving it on for too long. What's your 1st impression on black nail polish?
It would be great! I suggest that you grow out your nails a little, not too long but not short. About half a centimeter from your fingers (did that make sense?), and have them nice, clean and filed. They would not look just great for Halloween, but all the time (I find black nails that are taken well care of elegant!).
    i think its cute

    -Shake your hands

-Even blow-dry them if you REALLY want it fast

-Skip actually blowing on them yourself, the moisture in your breath could actually slow down the process

    Run under cold water

    Blow dry
stick your fingers in a small bowl of ice cold water

or put them in front of a fan
    blow dry, fan
    keep it at cool place
They make quick dry top coat which is awesome. I did nails for several years and that was what did it. Spray, blow dryers, and so on help but that top coat sealed the deal. I have some at my site you can check out or try OPI...
I use a blow dryer on cold and low power. Certain types of nail polish are also made specifically to dry quickly so you could look into those.
You can get this stuff in an aerosal can at walmart. You just spray it on your nails and it dries it. Or you can use a nail polish that has a quick dry in it.
Use speed set top coat. It is an advanced formula that dries nail enamel to a hard finish in minutes.
u can buy a spray from boots or somewhere
use one that tells you it dries fast. they contail oil to help dry faster
what u do is dont overlap the polish when ur putting it on.after u put it on put it by cool air
there is a product by O.P.I called quick dry or something........it's simply a spray and definitely speeds up the drying time......i love it...the cold water method doesn't really work and the hair dryer thing does as long as you keep it at least a few inches away from the nails..otherwise it's move the polish..hope this helps =)
    two words---blow dryer
Nail polish actually takes a full 24 hours to dry fully and all the way, but you can speed up the process by putting your nails in cold water, don't use a blow dryer if it blows hot air, that actually makes the polish stickier. You can use a small table fan as well. A clear over coat usually helps as well. For best results paint in thin layers about 30 minutes apart. If you don't have much time, they sell quick dry spray at most beauty shops, be sure to only spray a little bit on each nail, it makes your fingers numb if you spray too much.
there is no other way. if you blow on it with anything you'll mess it up, because you are adding air bubbles and your nails wont really look good. just be patient and wait. another way is try buying the nailpolish that takes seconds to dry. they work well and they're really ceap.
nail polish usually takes atleast 30 minutes to fully dry. try putting on 2 really thin coats. it generally dries faster that way
    cold water.
used a good quality of nail polish
Let it dry a few seconds, then put your fingers under cold running water to where the palms are getting the direct running water, and the cold water is touching the nails, just not directly on the wet polish, for about a minute, then let them ';air'; dry-no towel. I used this for many years while I worked as a cosmetologist!
I have a nail drying machine. You can get 1 at walmart for like 10 - 15.00. otherwise you can use your blowdryer on cool setting.
i use a blow dryer or run my nails under some cold water
    blow dry it
put your hands for a few minutes in your freezer. it works quickly.
Some salons use a spray to speed up the drying process in addition to a nail drying machine, but I have used the spray by itself.
blow dryer or fan. you can also buy fast drying nail polish
    use it apsinst the fan
    run under cold water.

but DO NOT use a hair dryer. unless u have a cold air setting... the heat will probably make it melt. its happened to me before and its a mess to clean up.
You can blow on your nails or there are things you can buy that will dry them quickly

Wash the area with a solution of warm water and TSP (found at any hardware or paint store). This will remove all the oil from the area. You have already said you have damaged the original paint but painting over it after it has been cleaned will be quick and easy.
no, you are pretty much screwed. anything that will remove the nail polish wil for sure remove the paint. remove it, sand it out, however works, then repaint is the only real solution.

What brands of nail polish are oil-based? How can one tell?

I got this nail art stamping kit at the mall. The woman who sold it to me suggested using oil-based nail polish because it was be easier and the results would be more desirable. When I went to the store, none of the bottles said oil-based.What brands of nail polish are oil-based? How can one tell?
No nail polishes are oil based that I know of. The woman who sold this product to you likely is just trying to meet her sales quota, and may not know what she is talking about.

Do you think nails look better with nail polish or without?

your opinion?Do you think nails look better with nail polish or without?
i think it depends on the color your choosing on your nails if it doesn't really match then the nails are better without but it it does then it always looks better-atleast to me it does=)Do you think nails look better with nail polish or without?
Yes, clean nails look better polished, but that is a very minor issue, one that men never even bring up. No, we do not like those long talons, but this issue with nails is a women's thing, not ours.
i think a french manicure is the best if you don't like wearing it go to the salon to get it done like every 2 weeks or something or you could try and do it yourself with a manicure kit x
it is definitely better with nailpolish, if you are not into colours then you could apply sheer pink, transparent nail polish or you could just have French nails.

If the nails are short and taken care of, meaning no chips, then dark colors are very sexy. Otherwise, natural is best.
I think it looks better without all the color if its a good manicure with a clear coating then they look way better
I like nail polish on the nails, I get acrylics that are just one color with gel over it, it doesn't chip ever!

How to get nail polish to stay on.?

I paint my nails at night and then by the end of the next day they are all chiped and gross looking. I don't do anything to make them this way. How do i get the nail polish to stay on.How to get nail polish to stay on.?
I normally put an extra coat of this nail polish called hard nails. It works for me.How to get nail polish to stay on.?
There are some good ways u can do it

    1. get a really good professional brand, like the stuff u see at saloons. OPI is my favorite.

    2. first apply a base coat (courtesy of OPI for me)

    3. apply 1-2 coats of the polish and let it dry.

    4. put on the quick dry topcoat (can u guess what brand, lol) and let it dry well

    5. good to go!!

    good luck
Nail shield over the paint. The beauty supply places have it. The do have more expensive polish still comes off without nail shield.

Washing hands a lot too makes it come off. Good Luck.
you should ask someone at the nail salon that question,, they do that kind of stuff for a living so im sure they'll tell u about a good product you could use
Get a good topcoat, it protects the color. Use a base coat (clear), two coats of color, and one thick top coat to protect your nails. Be sure to let nails dry completely between coats or you'll end up with a goopy mess that wont dry.
use a top coat and a BASE coat =)
chip free after 3 days,i even due dishes and clean eveyday, sally hansons diamond hard(no chip)its the first time i tried it and i think its great, has beautiful colors ans goes on glossy and smooth
i just had that problem not even 2 days ago but i asked my mom and she gave me a clear coat called (Surprise, Surprise)

    ORLY Wont Chip

and on another note ORLY has a (in a snap) wich helps it dry faster

it will say clearly on the nail polish (wont chip ORLY)
It is probably the nail polish you use. You might want to go to a nail salon and ask them what techniques you can do to keep your nails looking great for more that 24 hours. And while your there get a manicure. I know they use cremes and they put on a nail strengthener after they paint your nails and maybe that works as some sort of way to protect the nails from being easily chipped. Are you doing 2 coats of paint? Because if you aren't that might also be the problem...nail salons apply 2 coats of polish to your nails, and you should do that at home too. I hope I helped you a little! Good Luck!

Why is clear nail polish so much harder to remove? How can I remove it?

There's most likely a different or more ingredient(s) that make it longer-wearing and less likely to chip off than colored nail polish. With nail polish remover on an old rag, try applying a little pressure and rubbing slightly before wiping off/removing the nail polish.

Hope I helped! Why is clear nail polish so much harder to remove? How can I remove it?
its hard to remove just because you cant see it so you dont know if it is still there or not.Why is clear nail polish so much harder to remove? How can I remove it?

Buy it at the drugstore or dollar store.

Is there a way to thin nail polish?

I've heard of it, but never found out how, but do any of you know how to thin nail polish out? It's black if that makes any difference. I've heard of putting remover in it, would that hurt it?Is there a way to thin nail polish?

There is nail polish thinner you can buy at beauty supply shops but most of the time I just use a little nail polish remover. I don't think it hurts the polish. I have seen professional do it.
of corse not. if it bothers youput some nailpolish remover on a toweland just dabit on, if texture matters, give it a clear coat with iron extracts in it- its the only kind i know of that holds well
the best way 2 do it is 2 put some remover in it it wont do anything 2 it just don't put 2 much
i buy black nailpolish all the time and it allways get clumped and very thick. yes, putting nailposhish remover works. i've tried it with my black and white nail polish and it makes the nailpolish as good as new.
There's stuff you can buy that is specifically nail polish thinner. It works really well.

I've found it getting harder and harder to find though.
My mom taught this to me...you CAN use nail polish remover in it..but only put one to two drops in it depending how much is left in the bottle and shake the bottle so it mixes well.. It will not hurt it. I do this myself. It always works.
Add nail polish remover if it thickens.

    Acetone is the chemical actually.

That will not change the color.

For that you got to add a light color.
well ive known for putting viniger in any type of liquid make it thin. but also- alot of the stuff in nailpolish remover is whats in nailpolish. but go %26amp; try either or. XD
yeah i put nail varnish remover in it and it works well. just put a couple of drops in it, shake it well then leave it to settle for a while. dont put to much in or the nail varnish doesnt work.
nail polish remover or 90% acetone will thin it out just don't use to much or your polish is toast.
Add a few drops of nail polish remover. Shake the bottle and repeat until it is the right consistency for you.

Nail polish remover is actone its done. You can probably remove a circle of carpet from a closet area and replace that piece. Call a pro and have them do it they have a special tool to make the perfect circle.
try using accetone or orange cleaner go to home depot for the orange cleaner and the other one in shoppers drugmart or abc store
It won't hurt either. Just use another towel to dab it up from the carpet. Throw the towel in the wash. It will be fine.

Can you use nail polish remover while pregnant?

I'm in my second trimester and i'm wondering if its ok to use nail polish remover while pregnant? Can you use nail polish remover while pregnant?
YesCan you use nail polish remover while pregnant?
Of course, just use it outside or open a window so you don't become overcome with the vapors. It's not a good idea to breathe in that stuff when you're not pregnant, but when you are pg, you can get a little overcome.
If you are worried you can always go out and get a Non-Acetone nail polish remover! But i'm sure you'll be fine using one with acetone in it!
Yes just make sure not to breath in the vapors.
yes open windows or doors though x
yes just dont inhale too much

Should my toe nail polish always match my outfit?

Sandal weather is coming %26amp; I feel weird if they don't match, but it's 2 much work 2 change my nail polish every time I change my clothes.Should my toe nail polish always match my outfit?
i wear neutral colors like pale pink, french, etc. so it will match most of the time.Should my toe nail polish always match my outfit?
not anymore. but if you feel weird about it stick with the french manicure on your toes. thats what i do...goes with everything. i get a pedicure once a month. thats how long it stays. if you do it yourself just makesure you do to coats of topcoat to resist chipping.
Well, I mean, You can't change your nail polish everyday to match your outfits sooo....

Maybe stick to white, or neutral, or light shades that will match alot of things.

    Good Luck.
doesn't matter if the colors don't match as long they are not rioting. the color blends should gel together so they don't go all over the place.
no, just make the colours correspond together.

dont have the exact same colour for your nails as your dress or something.
No just make sure they match your fingernails.
not neccessarily just as long as its complementary.
Depends how anal you are about stuff like that. Mine never does.
just make sure your nails always match
no,but i think pink is the right color for this spring

  • How do you get nail polish off when nail polish remover wont get it off?

my lil sis has nail polish on her toes and it wont come off with nail polish remover any tricks ?!?How do you get nail polish off when nail polish remover wont get it off?
I bet you have non-acetone nail polish remover. That's the gentle kind that is not as harsh on the nails, but sometimes it's not as effective in getting the polish off. Check the label and if that's what it is, buy some old fashioned nail polish remover with acetone in it. Acetone can dry out the nails if used all the time, but this seems to be a situation where it's needed. How do you get nail polish off when nail polish remover wont get it off?
it will be a little more difficult than remover that works. but what i do when i run out of remover is take a clear or any polish really apply it and wipe it off right after it takes off both coats. just dont let it dry.
You can use a nail to file of the top layer of it, then you use nail polish remover....

I heard there was a nail polish code?

If a girl wheres a certain color of nail polish, it means some sort of thing. Like what a girl would do to someone or something. I want to know what color means what if it means anything. Has anybody heard of this?I heard there was a nail polish code?
No there isn't a nail polish code.I heard there was a nail polish code?
I'm pretty sure purple supposedly means you had sex the night before. But I wear purple nail polish regardless because I love it.
No, I haven't heard about this, but I'm curious. :)

If i use nail polish remover to remove nail polish from my carpet will it ruin it?

If the carpet is synthetic (nylon), the acetone in the nail polish remover will dissolve the fibers in the carpet. If i use nail polish remover to remove nail polish from my carpet will it ruin it?
it will take the coloring out of the carpet. If i use nail polish remover to remove nail polish from my carpet will it ruin it?
I knocked polish onto almost brand new carpet %26amp; got it out with polish remover. No problems, but it was a small spot. How well it comes out may depend on the type %26amp; age of the carpet.

Whats the best nail polish brand for long lasting nail polish?

I like to were my colors more than 3 days (my own nails)Whats the best nail polish brand for long lasting nail polish?
for me,it should be OPI.that's my fav.. I highly recommend it!

thousands of colors you can choose from. long lasting~~Whats the best nail polish brand for long lasting nail polish?
actually what ive found to work great on my nails is pure ice with nyc nail hardener clear top coat. they are both pretty cheap too pure ice is like 2.50 and they have a tone of colors and nyc is typically 99 cents. it works good for me anyway. definitely last more than 3 days i think im actually on day three and its looking pretty darn good.
Honestly, I have the same issue with nail polish. I want it to cover well and last long.

The BEST one I have tried for long lasting-ness (%26amp; I tried most brands) is MAYBELLINE FOREVERSTRONG + IRON.

It is doesn't chip and lasts about a week.
I use NYC kind it works amazing if you use clear top coat. it stays shinny and looks amazing and they have pretty sweet colors and its cheap. ha the Bon Bon kind works good with a clear coat too
OPI is a great brand with a million colors. They are a little bit more pricey, but they never dry out, and last a very long time on. I highly recommend it!
    i agree about OPI

it's the kind they use in nail salons as well.

also to keep it on longer don't forget to add a top coat (clear)
    OPI
Sally Hansen or Love My Nails =]
sally hansen no chip 10 day nail color
    Loreal long last

Need Help my daughter spilled nail polish all over my carpeting i have tried acetone and Goo Gone Xtreem and?

it didnt even take some out it out!!! Help how do i get it off my carpet ?????Need Help my daughter spilled nail polish all over my carpeting i have tried acetone and Goo Gone Xtreem and?
Is the same carpet in a closet or somewhere you can easily cut out a patch? Or can you buy the same carpet still? If so, cut out the stain in a square pattern using a utility knife (it may be easier to find something to use as a template) Once you have removed the stain, use that piece of carpet as a template to cut the patch. Using double sided sticky tape (there are ones made specifically for carpet) secure the patch in place. If the patch is cut correctly, you will never see the difference in the patch and the existing carpet. If you cut the carpet from a closet or other unseen area, you can use the stained/bleached carpet to replace the carpet you cut for the patch.Need Help my daughter spilled nail polish all over my carpeting i have tried acetone and Goo Gone Xtreem and?
wow, my daughter did same thing about a month ago, red nail polish on beige carpet. we were out for the evening, she asked for help on y/a, scrubbed, used a steamcleaner, even sent her brother out to get heavy duty spot remover. 2 hrs of trying and no luck, i'm sitting here looking at a now bright orangy/pink spot. luckily its only an inexpensive area rug that im going to throw out, is yours? wish i could help, call a carpet store, maybe they can suggest something
    Glass cleaner. Really. It works.

How can you remove red nail polish off of cloth and leather gym shoes?

I'd take the cloth to a professional cleaner. Be sure to tell them that you need them to remove the spot and show them where it is. They will tell you whether it can be done. As for the leather shoes, I'd try a non-acetone nail polish remover on a Q-Tip and CAREFULLY try to remove it that way.

Good luck! How can you remove red nail polish off of cloth and leather gym shoes?
You can't. It says on the bottle to keep away from synthetic materials. I know, I've tried. Sorry! How can you remove red nail polish off of cloth and leather gym shoes?
    Buy a nail polish remove.
alcohol for both. or this great stuff called goo gone. removes damn near anything. it's orange... %26amp;%26amp; you can find it in the cleaning supplies isle in walmart.. about 6 bucks... but well worth it as i said you can use it for about anything... %26amp; it doesn't stink.. smells like oranges :)

What are the dangers of nail polish remover?

does it sting or stain clothes? What are the dangers of nail polish remover?
It will only sting if you have a cut or something that it gets into. I don't think it would stain any fabrics, but it's entirely possible. Besides those, the only real danger that I know of is, if it has acetone in it, it drying out your nails. What are the dangers of nail polish remover?
if your cuticules are all cutt up ya it will sting, but if there not it wont. and ive never had it stain any fabric, but jus be carfull and dont get it on any fabric. :-) cause there prolly is some kind of fabric it might mess up. just dont spill lol

idk which red is better looking?Should i buy opi im not really a waitress or essie bordeaux nail polish?
i've worn ';I'm Not Really a Waitress'; by OPI before, and it is one of my favourite dark reds...i also like ';Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ,'; also by OPI.Should i buy opi im not really a waitress or essie bordeaux nail polish?
I purchased 'I'm Not Really a Waitress' and adored how it looked with very classy clothes. The red is a crisp red, and it gives a nice touch to your fingers. It goes on smoothly and it stays beautiful for days.
I prefer the Opi I'm Not Really a Waitress, but the other color is nice as well.

The Opi is soo much bolder than the other, so depends if you want it to be bold or subtle =)
opi might be expensive but it's like really good
    O.P.I

I'm not really a waitress for sure!
    i kinda like OPI=]]]

For straight up chrome metallic nails, you cannot get that look with a nail polish. The Minx nail coverings are AMAZING though!

    Lol

    anyways. Try Claires

Sorry about other ?,but i meant to ask about how to remove nail polish on bathroom floor?

the bottle broke trying to shake it in palm of hand.i think is was an old bottle.it sounded like the steel ball was stuck.Sorry about other ?,but i meant to ask about how to remove nail polish on bathroom floor?
It depends on the kind of floor-- on tile, any nail polisher remover should be okay. If vinyl, make sure it's acetone-free and even so, it may still strip the protective surface coat. You may want to be sure and apply some floor wax, if it's vinyl.Sorry about other ?,but i meant to ask about how to remove nail polish on bathroom floor?
I have used nonacetone nail polish remover to get nail polish off of my counter top. It worked better than anything else I have tried in the past.
make sure it is acitone free nail polish remover. that will work for you but if it has acitone in it it will ruin the floor
Try some nail polish remover, just like for your nails.
If it's a tile floor, nail polish remover.
