I spilled nail polish remover on the cover of my laptop. The paint seems to be fading. How can I fix it?

I don't have enough money to go to an auto-shop, is there a way i can fix it on my own but remain on a budget?I spilled nail polish remover on the cover of my laptop. The paint seems to be fading. How can I fix it?
My father's keyboard all the letters wore off from use. The keyboard still works perfectly so the solution he used was simple, go to the store buy those stick on letters the small ones, stick them on your keys in the right places.


The other solution is to get some paint and a very small paint brush and paint the letters back, but they will look painted I can tell you that because that was my first solution.


One last solution I just thought of now are rubber stamps but you would need to remove each key to stamp the letter on it.

Wow what a great idea. A special mark you can identify if stolen..
never use spray paint if you're not experienced with spray paint. it might get into the sensitive parts of your computer or clog up ventilations. you will totally ruin your notebook. why not cover the whole cover with vinyl? you can find rolls of it in your local hardware shop or car parts. they use it to cover cabinet %26amp; car interiors. it has an adhesive backing so you just have to stick it in your cover.for curved or rounded edges, use a blow drier to soften the material %26amp; pull it until it fits snugly w/o wrinkles. i've done this in my own old, scratched laptop %26amp; an old scratched iPod. now it looks new. these things come in many colors. if you want more info email me.
The damage is done. Since it is cosmetic, why worry about it? If the plastic is continuing to melt, the computer mfgr may be able to replace it if it is a newer model.
Not that I'm aware of since most nail polish remover is acetone based and a very effective glue and paint remover.





Really, although it may look ugly, it's cosmetic.
NOW THAT THE HOUSING IS MESSED UP FIND A SPRAY CAN COLOR YOU LIKE AND MAKE IT A ONE OF A KIND. REMOVE EVERYTHING INSIDE SO THERE ISN'T ANY OVER SPRAY TO DEAL WITH AND JUST SPRAY THE HOUSING . LET SET A DAY AND REASSEMBLE , ALSO IF IT HAS A LOGO OF SOMETHING YOU DON'T WANT TO PAINT , COVER THE AREA WITH MASKING TAPE , AND CUT OUT WITH XACTO HOBBY KNIFE. IF IT'S ONE OF A KIND NO WOULD FEEL AS SAFE STEALING IT.
Sounds like it's time to invest in some nice stickers. Nail polish remover is destructive stuff.
Now that the damage is done, you might as well use the opportunity to be a little bit creative and beautify it. You know, draw pictures on it in nail polish or something... just my idea. To tone down the ugliness.
