How do you prevent your old nail polish going all gooey?

You don't want to use polish remover. Use a product called 'Nail Lacquer Thinner.' Its made differently, and it works well. Just add 2-3 drops and shake well. Be careful how much you add so it doesn't thin too much. And, don't thin a bottle more than one time. If you find it hardening after you have already thinned it one time, its time to throw the bottle away.

When you are through with the polish, wipe the threads of the bottle off, and spread a thin coat of Vaseline onto the threads. Then tightly replace the top. This will help in two ways: First, it will make the top easier to remove the next time you want to use that bottle of polish, and two, it will form a seal around the threads and keep air from getting into the bottle, which thickens it.How do you prevent your old nail polish going all gooey?
there is actually a special liquid you can add into semi hardening old nail polishes. but i forgot the exact term we call that. if not, you can also add a little bit of the nail polisher remover into your varnish pot and shake...
