Well I hate to break it to ya'll...but none of these answers worked even though people voted on a ';best'; answer...which is y I never picked one. Hopefully these will work for someone else! Just FYI for anyone else who needs the help...WD-40 and salt might ruin your dry erase board!!!

rubbing alcohol removes most types of markers.
I read that Coca Cola will do the trick (Joey Green books-How to Clean Everything, etc.) Haven't had the opportunity to try it.
Dry erase board cleaner.
Hi,

You might try writing over the marks and then wiping it off, or contact the dry erase board company.
toothpaste. it works, I'm serious.
you'll think I'm crazy, but try WD-40. It's nontoxic and works great on lots of household cleaning projects. Then basic ingredient in it is fish oil!
I work in a retail business that uses dry erase boards. I use alcohol to clean it. Don't be stingy with the alcohol. It will leave it snow white.
I have whiteboard cleaner. It's made by Sanford, and says ';EXPO WHITE BOARD CLEANER'; on it. It's a small opaque bottle with a blue label and one of the spritzer caps, holding 2 fluid ounces. It sells with a kit:

You might be able to get it independently... but the kit comes with a special pen for removing permanent marker, if that's what you've got on your board.
Window Cleaner should do the trick.
Try WD-40
what got it all dirty? were you writing on it with a magic marker? did you try alcohol or vinegar + water?
Goo Gone! It works on everything! My 3yr old wrote on our brand new flatscreen tv- ya know with the LCD screens that you can't touch with anything except plain water or the special spray they make to clean it with...anyway the special cleaner didn't do the trick so thinking we had nothing to lose we tried it- came off in seconds with no damage!
Did you try water?
